Ok, so i see that much time has passed since anyone has either started a new thread or posted on an old one. So for this new one i hope to start a classic mnv debate. (To be honest i got the inspiration from menachem last week, from his occasional manavuofficial tweets) Anyway, whether your a old time mnv vet. or a present mnv staff member, (or camper for that matter) (and yes i say present, because mnv will never leave our hearts or minds) please tell us who you would chose first in the famous mnv color war draft house, and why? Like what did that person do for team? you can also include 2nd and 3rd rounders.........

That's a tough one. Some of my great camp memories are from those late-night drafts in the Klein house. (He always has Luigi's in the freezer!) The obvious first pick from the early years of camp is the legendary R Effy Wachsman. He was worth seven picks in his day, so that must mean he was way ahead of the rest of the competition. Still it's hard to compare different generations of camp, so much like Weider vs Jungreis, you can't really know how the greats of different generations stack up. There were also the generals of those middle years who were obviously big factors, but I have to leave that to the guys who remember those color wars. (Haven't seen Avrumi on here in a while.) I'm clearly a נוגע בדבר when it comes to the last decade of camp, but leaving myself out and sticking to the early thirties in camp years, the guys who merit consideration are, in no particular order, Y Feit, A Treuhaft, M Klein. There were other factors, but those were the guys who would hit home runs, write the alma mater, dominate the play, and potentially do everything. I'll see if I can organize my thoughts and find the time to get together a mock color war draft.

Effy Wachsman is an easy number one. Most talented person that came thru MNV. Shea jacobs is number two. Yaakov weber as number three. Simone has to take care of the grand March.

classic mnv man. While we all agree that r' effy wachsaman is no doubt the most talented camp person to ever walk though mnv (probably the most talented camp person in the history of any camp for that matter). But shea was def, a fantastic comedy skit/play guy, but what else were his color war talents. There rae/have been people who have done skits/plays/songs.... you gotta give some more multi-multi talented people. I do speak from experience because iwas there for shea, and i have been there until very recently.

alummnv i agree that both reuven and zvi were great artists in their own right, but did they ever draw a grand banner. There have been some tremendous artists in recent years for example ay steinberg who drew arguably the nicest pencil banners ever. Yehuda shuster is a great pick completely maskim. Michael mann was also a great poster artist. Does anyone remember "does pinny have daas" (pinny fisher classic comedy skit). Sholom becher was a great pick also because he owned the canteen beside his comedy.
So who do you think was the best grand sing leader ever?

Shimmy Eidelstein another great talent. Could write songs, plays, Halacha skits, etc... One year he wrote the whole Flatbush comedy skit for neighborhood day as a musical (using marvelous middos machine as his base).

Ahhh great call on R' shimon Edelstein a genius and a great talent. Do you remember when he starred in a comedy skit in camp? Do you remember is what his line was in that skit. He also wrote a great grand march.
